(Guyana Guardian) – A thirty five year old man from Enterprise on the East Coast of Demerara pleaded not guilty to the charges of assault and abusive language, when he appeared before Magistrate Zamilla Alli-Seepaul, at the Vigilance Magistrate’s Court.

Police records had indicated that on Monday 22 August 2016, Ishwar Parbo abused and unlawfully assaulted his sister at Lot 2 Fernandes street, Enterprise, East Coast Demerara, where both siblings lived.

The court further heard that Parbo, while choking his sister also made use of abusive language towards her, whereby he used a series of expletives and called the young lady a whore.

Police Corporal Sherlock King, who was prosecuting the matter, told the court that on the day in question, the brother and sister were involved in an argument, which subsequently led to the man committing the listed offences against his sister.

While, the exact details of what actually led to the incident was not revealed in court, the Guyana Guardian was reliably informed that the brother has some serious objections to his sister being involved in a quiet relationship presumably with a man of another ethnicity.

Angered by this, the brother is said to be repeatedly challenging his sister over the relationship, and had assaulted her on more than one occasion.

However, having been choked to an almost unconscious state this time around, the sister recovered and decided to report the matter to the police.

As a result Iswhar Parbo was subsequently arrested and charge.

But when the charges were read to the man in court, he pleaded not guilty to all of them, and did not offered any explanation as to why the accusations could have been leveled against him.

Nonetheless, after perusing the particulars that was before her, presiding Magistrate Zamilla Alli-Seepaul released him on $10,000 bail.

He is now schedule to return to court on the 20th October 2016 for report.
