Queen Letizia on her trip to Italy
The suitcase that the Queen of Spain used to travel to Italy included several pieces from Italian fashion brands, a nod to the host country, although some of the garments have been loaned by the brands. An evening dress from Max Mara; a cheviot suit with matching coat from Alberta Ferretti; a handbag from Aquazurra and another from Gucci are the clothing and accessories made in Italy that Letizia has worn during the State visit.
Being Italy a reference in design and fashion, it was expected that the Queen would pull out all the stops, but the reality is that the choice of clothing, especially when it comes to Italian brands, has not achieved the expected impact. Elegant and sober, yes, but not memorable.

Letizia left Madrid last Tuesday wearing a black Mango coat, the same one she wore the day before at the funeral for the flood victims at the Valencia Cathedral. With that outfit, and grey trousers, she boarded the plane on which, alongside the King, she traveled to Rome. Upon descending the stairs, Letizia appeared all in white, wearing a Hugo Boss coat, a pashmina, and trousers.
Upon arriving at the residence of the Spanish ambassador, where the King and Queen met with Spanish residents in Italy, the Queen removed her coat and showcased Mango's white pantsuit, an affordable alternative to the Armani ensemble she wore 21 years ago on the day of her engagement.

On Wednesday, for the official reception at the Quirinal Palace, the Queen chose a pale pink ensemble by Carolina Herrera, part of the Spanish perfumery and fashion group Puig. The tweed jacket with tone-on-tone embroidery and balloon sleeves, paired with a midi skirt, echoed the bubblegum pink suit by the same brand that the Queen wore at the coronation of Charles III.

At night, during the gala dinner hosted by President Mattarella, the Queen opted for a simple black Max Mara dress, probably to highlight the two diamond bracelets, heirlooms of Queen Victoria Eugenia, known as “the twins”. As a clutch bag, Letizia chose a purse from the Italian brand Aquazzura.

Yesterday in Rome, Letizia met with the Spanish officials working at the FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations), of which Letizia is an ambassador. For that meeting, she chose the most Italian look she has ever worn, along with a Gucci handbag. The Queen wore a dark-toned cheviot suit jacket and coat ensemble. All borrowed from the Italian designer Alberta Ferretti, which explains why, like the pink suit, the outfit was a bit oversized.

In the afternoon, to accompany the King at the ceremony where he was awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Naples Federico II, the Queen wore an outfit by the Spanish brand The 2nd Skin. It consisted of a taupe taffeta skirt with sequins and a white silk blouse that she had worn on other occasions.
