A source with close connections to the filings of the murder charge against former GDF Captain Orwain Sandy, has told the Guyana Guardian that a decision is being weighted to bar all members of the public from the courtroom during his expected arraignment today.

As a matter of fact, the matter would most likely be called at a court that is outside of the district, and against the expectations of the media.

But even so, a final decision is still being mulled.

He explained that these steps are being taken in consideration of the Captain’s safety, and the potential public disorder that his appearance can cause in and around the courtroom.

“We don’t want to have a grand media circus out there either”, he stressed.

While he was reluctant to identify which court the matter would most likely be called, other sources are saying that the Cove and John Magistrate’s court on the East Coast, was once touted as a possible location, preferably in the afternoon.

Captain Sandy, who once had a promising career in the military, is accused of taking the life of his then live-in partner Reona Payne, by pumping 14 bullets into her body, last Saturday at Alexander Village.

The now-sacked soldier had accused Ms. Payne of having outside relationships with at least two other persons.
