Last Tuesday, the Emir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hanad Al Thani, and his wife, Jawaher Al Thani, were on a State visit to the United Kingdom. A visit that was eagerly awaited by fans of Kate Middleton, as the Prince of Wales's office at Kensington Palace had confirmed that the princess would be present at the welcome event.
Middleton was receiving guests with her husband, Prince William, at the hotel where they were staying and later they were heading to Horse Guards Parade, where King Charles III was waiting for them. These were events where a very smiling Kate could be seen, with an impeccable look that she surprisingly changed hours later.

The princess opted for the occasion for a burgundy coat by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen, with a classic and crossed cut, featuring a sophisticated double neckline and marked shoulders. The garment had two central buttons and pockets on both sides, which she paired with leather boots by Gianvito Rossi, leather gloves, and a Chanel handbag that has been in her wardrobe for some time.

But after lunch, the princess was photographed at Buckingham Palace wearing a burgundy coat that was not exactly the same. Although it also had the crossed neckline and prominent shoulders, the detail that revealed that it was not the McQueen piece was in some loops with decorative buttons on both sides with the inside in the same color as the garment and a golden edge.

This midi length dress that Middleton wore as a dress belonged to the Eponine London brand and she had premiered it just two years ago to record the Christmas Concert at Westminster Abbey, an event that she organizes herself and is one of the most special of the year.

The reason why Prince William's wife changed her outfit during the reception is unknown. Perhaps she spilled something on it during lunch or had another mishap. She also changed her footwear, swapping the Gianvito Rossi boots for suede pumps in the same prominent color of the outfit, also from the same brand.
