Besalú, declared a National Historic-Artistic Ensemble since 1966 for its great architectural value, has one of the most significant legacies of Catalan medieval times.

In this edition of the PhotoFlash by the Readers of La Vanguardia, we can take a photographic tour through the interior of the town, but also appreciate the details and reflections in the Fluvià River of its splendid 105-meter-long Romanesque bridge.

Sant Vicenç Church is Romanesque with some transitional elements to Gothic. We also find the hospital of Sant Julià, built by the counts of Besalú to assist pilgrims, and its 12th-century exterior facade stands out for its capitals. Of the monastery of Sant Pere, founded in the 10th century, only the church remains.
