A 50-year-old woman has passed away in the intensive care unit of a hospital three days after being admitted due to an assault she allegedly suffered at the hands of her partner in Catarroja (Valencia). The partner was apprehended and subsequently released with precautionary measures, according to information provided to EFE by Civil Guard sources.
Following the assault, which occurred early Friday morning into Saturday at a residence in Catarroja, the woman was taken to a hospital, and the judicial police in Alfafar, who assumed responsibility for the inquiry, apprehended her partner.

The suspect was brought before the court on Tuesday, which ordered his release under precautionary measures. Hours after the judicial decision, the woman passed away at the hospital due to injuries she sustained, according to the same sources.
This marks the fifth woman to have died at the hands of her partner or ex-partner this December, and the eighteenth since October.
Yesterday, the Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, before the death of this fifth victim had occurred, characterized the murder of four women by their partners in Spain in recent days as “insoportable”.

The president also conveyed his “más sentido pésame” to the family of the latest victim (before the one in Catarroja was known) confirmed this Tuesday in Barcelona by The Government Delegation against Gender Violence.
Between December 2nd and December 9th, Oriana (29 years old), Rossmery (39 years old), Jennifer (30 years old), and Sayuri (36 years old) were killed. The homicides occurred in Alicante, Torrijos (Toledo), El Viso del Alcor (Seville), and L'Hospitalet de Llobregat (Barcelona) on the previous Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday, and this past Tuesday, respectively.
