Business magnate Elon Musk touches down in Catalonia with his speech on immigration. Musk has commented on this Sunday on his X account, with a laconic Wow in reference to a news story about foreign-born individuals convicted of rape in Catalonia.
As of January 1, 2025, according to the Department of Justice and Democratic Quality, there are 29 inmates in Catalan prisons for rape offenses. 75.9% (22) have been convicted, while 24.1% (7) remain in pre-trial detention. Out of the total, 26 are foreign nationals.
When analyzing crimes of sexual assault, the prison population consists of 301 inmates, with 186 (61.79%) being foreigners and 115 being of Spanish nationality (38.20%).
Attacks on the British Labour government
These past few days, Musk has openly and consistently criticized the current UK Labour government led by Prime Minister Keri Starmer, accusing him of not investigating “massive violations” in the UK when he was the head of the Prosecution. The South African billionaire also referred to the British Deputy Minister for Protection and Violence against Women and Girls, Jess Phillips, as an “apologist for rape genocide,” accusations that the British Health Minister, Wes Streeting, labeled as “shameful defamation” this Sunday.
