Angelina Torres Vallbona is now the oldest living person in Spain. The Catalan “super grandmother,” born in 1913 in Bellvís, in the Pla d’Urgell (Lleida), has achieved this honor at the age of 111. She takes over from Piedad Loriente, who passed away at the end of November in Zaragoza, at the age of 113.
After the death of Maria Branyas, who reached 117 years old and held the record for being the oldest person in the world, Torres Vallbona became the oldest person in Catalonia and now in all of Spain. According to the specialized portal LongeviQuest, Torres is currently the 74th oldest living person in the world.
When RAC1 went to her house to meet her in September, she still had two “super-grandmothers” in Spain. On the one hand, the aforementioned Piedad Loriente, but also Silveria Martín, from Cáceres, who died in September at the age of 114.
Angelina Torres Vallbona's family tells RAC1.cat that she is doing well and that she has spent a good Christmas holiday surrounded by loved ones. In fact, in a previous conversation with her, she explained that she has never had any serious illness and does not take any medication: “I never go to the doctor. Thank God, for me, doctors have always been on vacation”.
On March 18, 2025, Angelina Torres Vallbona will turn 112 years old
