In 2024, the audiovisual technology industry generated over 80 billion euros in Europe, while in Latin America the revenues of this sector exceeded 13.5 billion euros (with a growth of over 10%), according to a study by AVIXA (Audiovisual and Integrated Experience Association). These figures confirm the good moment that the sector is going through in two regions that share very positive development perspectives in areas such as entertainment and live events, education, health, and commerce.

In this context, the audiovisual fair Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) 2025 reinforces the role of the European Latin America AV Forum (ELAF) as a strategic meeting point to promote innovation and development in high technology between Europe and Latin America, with Spain at the center of this connection.

Mike Blackman, CEO of ISE, points out that the main goal of the European Latin America AV Forum 2025 is to “consolidate Spain's role as a bridge between Europe and Latin America in the audiovisual industry, fostering new business opportunities and collaboration to strengthen ties between both regions.” Additionally, Blackman ensures that beyond connecting companies and professionals, the forum will also serve as “a unique platform for government representatives, industry leaders, and audiovisual professionals from both regions to forge strategic partnerships and drive innovation in the audiovisual and digital sectors. By connecting two dynamic regions through technology and collaboration, ELAF is not just an event, but a catalyst for long-term economic and technological growth between Europe and Latin America.”

An industry whose global revenues are projected to reach 405 billion euros in 2029, as forecasted by the new IOTA study from AVIXA, and that encompasses a wide range of technologies that not only enhance entertainment, but also communication and the way we interact with our environment: from surround sound systems and high-definition LED displays to virtual reality. Among its main challenges are the integration of Artificial Intelligence, strengthening security, and implementing new regulations.

The first edition of the European Latin America AV Forum, held in January 2024, highlighted the importance of transatlantic cooperation in the audiovisual field. Sustainability, Artificial Intelligence regulation, and talent development proved to be fundamental points for fostering sector growth. The 2025 edition of the event, to be held in space CC5.3 at the Gran Via venue of Fira de Barcelona, will delve deeper into these key topics and offer other high-value content aimed at fostering stronger long-term relationships between Europe and Latin America.

Challenges and opportunities

One of the main obstacles to foster synergies between Europe and Latin America is the difference in market maturity: the old continent has advanced audiovisual technologies and established regulatory frameworks, while some Latin American markets are still developing their technological infrastructure. According to Mike Blackman, to overcome these challenges, “Spain must act not only as a connector, but also as a facilitator in the transfer of knowledge and technological adaptation. Additionally, the logistic, cultural, and regulatory differences across the Atlantic present obstacles that must also be addressed.”

To face these and other challenges, as well as to maximize collaboration opportunities in digital transformation in the audiovisual and technological sectors, the European Latin America AV Forum will bring together government representatives, industry leaders, and professionals. Among the confirmed participants are Carlos Anderson, congressman from the Government of Peru; Luis Gómez, Director of Innovation at Fira de Barcelona; Federico Bausone, CEO of Creston Latin America; Sarah Joyce, CEO of AVIXA; Miquel Rutllant, President of the Audiovisual Cluster of Catalonia; and David Dávila, President of the Creative Media Cluster of Nuevo León (Mexico).

ISE and Barcelona, a fruitful alliance

The 2024 edition of ISE generated a record economic impact of 468 million euros for Barcelona, representing a 21% increase compared to the previous year, and reinforcing its role as a key driver of the city's economy.

ISE, deeply committed to Barcelona, has reaffirmed its trust in the city as its long-term host. Therefore, the event organizers are driving the creation of a lasting legacy in the city and the country, ensuring that the positive impact of the audiovisual industry goes beyond the exhibition center. In fact, in recent years ISE has played a key role in promoting Barcelona, attracting new players to the local ecosystem, such as B-Tech, Lang, Aztec, and LiveU, who have established offices in the city.

ISE 2025, to be held at the Gran Via venue of Fira de Barcelona from February 4 to 7, will feature an expansion of its exhibition space of over 20% compared to the 2024 edition. Under the motto “Connection Restored,” it will serve as the premier global gathering for the AV industry, fostering valuable connections through networking opportunities, cutting-edge technology, innovative experiences, and personal development.

ISE 2024 brought together over 1,400 exhibitors and attendees from 162 countries, achieving record-breaking participation numbers that are expected to surpass in the next edition.
