Sixteen urban artworks painted in Spain compete for the Street Art Cities 2024 Award

Sixteen urban artworks painted in Spain, including the three in Burgos, La Bañeza (León), and Guardo (Palencia), are in the running to win the Street Art Cities 2024 award, which designates the best urban mural in the world. Last year, the award was claimed by a painting done in Fene (A Coruña) by the artist Sfhir, a 45-year-old Madrid native who has been painting in various cities around the world since 1995.

This year, Fene is once again chosen as the host town for one of the nominated murals. The mural is created by the Chilean artist Cristóbal Espinosa (known as Cristóbal Persona) and is titled Andean Charanguist. In this piece, the artist represents an indigenous musician playing a small guitar.

The rest of the municipalities where the nominees are located are San Javier and Alcantarilla (Murcia); Aliseda and Arroyomolinos de Vera (Cáceres); Baena (Córdoba); Mollet del Vallés and Granollers (Barcelona); Burgos; La Bañeza (León); Arinaga (Gran Canaria); Linares (Jaén); Azagra (Navarra); Guardo (Palencia); and Calafell and L'Ametlla de Mar (Tarragona), the latter with two nominated works.

The nominated murals are selected by a panel of experts composed of street art professionals, artists, academics, journalists, and community leaders from around the world.
